Arttu Takalo

Arttu Takalo (b. 1971) is best known from the fusion jazz-rock band XL as well as the vibraphonist of many rock bands and artists in the Finland - for example Samuli Edelmann, Ismo Alanko, Hector and Mikko Kuustonen. He has also composed for the New Young Chamber Orchestra and UMO big band. Moreover he has written music for several films. Takalo got "The Jazz Musician of the Year" award in 2000 from the Pori Jazz Festival. Helsinki Philharmonic (conducted by John Storgårds) premiered his Saxophone Concerto with Jukka Perko as a soloist in June 2004. He has released two solo cds, "When I Fall" and "Neverstopdreaming".
